Pilotage: Puerto Cabello Pilot - Radio frequency: VHF Channel 12.

WORKING HOURS: Mon-Sun: 24 hours a day. Open all year round.

APPROACH: Vessels approach from the north and bring Fort Solano to bear 180°. This will clear Bajo Larne and the reef off Punta Brava and Fort Libertador. Two main beacons visible at night, one at Fort Solano and another at Punta Brava reef.

TRANSPORTATION: Inland transportation is by road, rail and cabotage. Berths 22, 23, 24 and 31, 32 are rail linked. The railroad runs from Puerto Cabello to Barquisimeto, in west of country - Bartolome Salom Airport is 10 km from the sea port and Michelena Airport (Valencia) is 45 km away.

IMPORTS AND EXPORTS: Imports: Grain, bulks, manufactured goods, chemicals, cars and other vehicles - Exports: Automotive spares, fruit and other reefer cargoes, chemicals, processed paper and steel.

WEATHER: N, NE winds - Tidal range is 0.3 meter.

ANCHORAGE: Restricted to two areas designated by harbour master as Alfa and Bravo in navigation charts. Anchorage outside those areas is illegal. Entrance channel is marked by lighted buoys. Three shackles of chain are recommended.

PILOTAGE: Pilot boards approximately 10° 30' 00" N, 68° 0' 30" W. Pilotage charges are under the harbour master's control and are calculated on the basis of grt.

TOWAGE: Compulsory. Two tugs required for vessels over 146 meters LOA.
