    WORKING HOURS: Mon-Sun: 24 hours a day (port never closes).

    APPROACH: Port location is Canaveral Harbour. Entrance channel is seven nautical miles long and 400 feet wide with a depth of 44 feet at MLW - Landmarks: Canaveral Bight light, Kennedy Space Center vehicle assembly building.

    HAZARDS: None.

    TRANSPORTATION: Florida East Coast Railroad is 11 miles away. Hinterland transportation is by road and rail - Melbourne International Airport is 25 miles from the sea port and Orlando International Airport is 45 miles.

    IMPORTS AND EXPORTS: Imports: Newsprint, apple concentrate, salt, cement, steel, gypsum drywall - Exports: Citrus, concentrate, automobiles, scrap.

    WEATHER: Prevailing winds 5-10 mph - Tidal range is 3 feet.

    ANCHORAGE: Vessels arriving from offshore can find safe anchorage about one mile south to southwest of approach channel buoy No 3.

    PILOTAGE: Compulsory for all vessels of 7 ft draft or more. For inbound vessels, pilot boards one mile south-east of lighted buoys Nos 3 and 4 - Pilotage charges: US$12.50 per ft and US$0.028 per grt.

    Cruise: Three megaship terminals in the west turning basin designated as CT5, CT8, and CT9/10. Future facilities include CT6/7 and CT11/12. Terminals with two numbers can be used by either one megaship or two smaller ships with separate Customs and baggage handling. Three cruise terminals at the port entrance on the south side, designated as CT2, CT3 & CT4.

    Container: A new container facility opened in summer 1999 as a feeder to Freeport, Bahamas and Charleston, SC.

    Ro-ro: A new ro-ro ramp has recently been completed on the north side of port next to North Cargo Pier 1.

    Tankers: Berths 1 and 2 with length of 900 feet and depth of 39 feet MLW.

    Cruise: Six terminals and six berths with total berthing capacity for up to seven vessels.

    NEW FACILITIES: Cruise Terminal 6/7

    PRIVATE WHARFS: None.

    MEDICAL AID: Cape Canaveral Hospital is five miles from the port.

    ENVIRONMENT: Federal and State environmental regulations apply - Port Canaveral is an active participant in the Florida Department of Environmental Protection Public Used Oil Collection Center Program. During FY98 a total of 3,650 gallons of used oil was collected and recycled from this facility. Further details on services provided by Port Canaveral to protect the environment are available on request.
