    WORKING HOURS: Mon-Sun: 08.30-17.00 seven days a week, all year round.

    APPROACH: Port is located in Lake North Inlet. Main approach is via Lakeworth Lagoon, measuring 1,200 x 1,400 feet with a depth of 33 feet.

    TRANSPORTATION: Berths are linked by 10 km of rail track owned by Florida East Coast Railway Co. Port-operated switching engines. Hinterland transportation is by road, rail, cabotage and pipeline - Palm Beach International Airport is 10 miles south of the sea port.

    IMPORTS AND EXPORTS: Imports: Clinkers, utility fuels, produce, fruit. Exports: Fruits, textiles, foodstuffs, molasses.

    WEATHER: Sub-tropical winds - Tidal variation is plus or minus 3 feet.

    ANCHORAGE: Two safe federally approved anchorages available - Draft is 36 feet MLW.

    PILOTAGE: Pilot boards at Lakeworth Sea Buoy LW from 31 foot pilot boat. Vessel should be ladder rigged 3 feet from the water on lee side and should maintain minimum speed ahead.

    Pilotage charges:

    Less than 10 feet: US$110.00 flat rate

    10 feet or over: US$ 11.00 per foot draft

    Gross tonnage: US$.02 per grt, 2,000 grt minimum

    Running lines by pilot boat: US$50.00

    Deliver orders or place man on/off vessel: US$75.00

    Anchoring vessel off reef: US$250.00

    Detention one hour from time of call, per hour: US$25.00

    Docking/undocking: US$30.00 per 5,000 - 10,000 grt - US$60.00 over 10,000 grt

    Pilot shifting vessel in same slip US$50.00

    Other shifting US$100.00

    Piloting or shifting barges; vessel without and/or steering power 1.5 times draft

    Rates apply inbound and outbound.

    STORAGE: Open storage: 20 acres - Proprietary usage: Cement/clinkers, sugar, molasses, utility fuel - Refrigeration capacity: 125,000 square feet on dockside.

    BUNKERS: Ships are refuelled by road tanker.

    PROVISIONS: Available from Viking, Sysco, CBI.

    WATER: Fresh water is available alongside berths by pipeline connection.

    Cost: US$1.20 per short ton of potable water.

    Current total linear feet of berthing: 5,160

    Cruise: One terminal and two berths of 720 feet and 500 feet length, both with 33 feet draft - Total berthing capacity: 1,250 linear feet.

    NEW FACILITIES: 1,500 additional linear feet will be ready by autumn 2000 for cargo usage.

    PRIVATE WHARFS: None.

    MEDICAL AID: Good Samaritan Hospital is five miles south of the port - St Mary's Hospital is three miles south of port.

    ENVIRONMENT: Regulations have been implemented by the Dept of Community Affairs, Dept of National Resources, EPA, OSHA and US Army Corps.
