    WORKING HOURS: Mon-Fri: 08.00-16.00 - Sat-Sun: Closed.

    APPROACH: The main approach, called Via Mayaguez, is four miles long and between 500 and 1,000 feet wide with a depth of 30 feet.

    HAZARDS: Algarrobo reefs north of Buoy No 5 - No sand bars - No shallow water.

    Exterior spots east of buoy No 1 - Interior spots north of buoy No 3 - Large spots south of buoy No 4.

    TRANSPORTATION: Inland transportation is by truck only.

    Eugenio Maria de Hostos (Mayaguez) Airport is 10 km from the sea port.

    IMPORTS AND EXPORTS:

    Imports: Tuna, other fish, mill feed and fertilizers - Exports: Pharmaceutical products.

    WEATHER: Winds: ENE - Tides: Tidal variation is 1 ft depending on wind.

    ANCHORAGE: Determined by vessel's draft. Once past buoys Nos 3 and 4 vessels should steer for day beacon. Some 45 ft south of No 5, 26 ft south of Starkist Dock.

    PILOTAGE: Pilot boards 18° 13' N, 67° 13' W - Pilot should be contacted on VHF Channel 16. - Approach pilot pick-up point with ladder on lee side 1 metre above water.

    TOWAGE: None.

    TRAFFIC: Vessel calls per year:

    Cruise: 156 - Ro-ro: 156 - Reefer: 24 - Bulk: 14 - Breakbulk: 2 - Container: 0

    Cargo handled per year: Less than 200,000 tonnes.

    Cargo handled per day: Less than 1,000 tonnes.

    STORAGE: Open storage: Available for containers - Liquid bulk: Romaguera & Sons has 8,000 tonnes of tank storage capacity for molasses.

    Air draft: No restrictions - Refrigeration capacity: None.

    BUNKERS: By road tanker only.

    PROVISIONS: Baysi de Chandlers Co.

    WATER: Fresh water is available.

    FACILITIES: Berthing: Total of 1,280 feet.
