    APPROACH: Groot Baai is approached by way of a marked channel with 12 metres depth - Landmark: Fort Amsterdam.

    TRANSPORTATION: Inland transportation is by road.

    Princess Juliana International Airport is 10 km from the sea port.

    IMPORTS AND EXPORTS: Imports: Consumer goods, lumber and construction materials - Exports: Sugar.

    WEATHER: Prevailing winds are E to SE (Mar-Dec), NE to E (Dec-Mar). Hurricane season (Jun-Nov) - Tides: 0.6 meter.

    ANCHORAGE: Vessels may anchor in Groot Baai with a water depth of 10.0 metres.

    PILOTAGE: Compulsory. Pilot boards at the entrance to Groot Baai and ships may berth day or night.

    TOWAGE: Provided by St Maarten Ports Authority.
