    Closed: Independence Day (1 Jan), Hero's Day (2 Jan), Labor Day (1 May), Flag Day (18 May), Ascension Day, Assumption (15 Aug), All Saints (1 Nov), Mourning Day (2 Nov), Commemoration Day (18 Nov), Discovery of Haiti (5 Dec), Christmas Day (25 Dec).

    APPROACH: North of Ile de la Gonave with a depth of 28 meters. Estuary is called Saint Marc, West La Gonave - Landmark: Cathedral, Lamentin.

    HAZARDS: Mardi-Gras Reefs.

    TRANSPORTATION: All main berths are road linked and inland transportation is by truck. Ma s Gate Airport is 3 km from the sea port.

    IMPORTS AND EXPORTS: Imports: Food products, manufactured goods, oil and petroleum products - Exports: Assembled products, coffee, cocoa, sisal.

    WEATHER: Trade winds, breezes (east in the morning, west in the evening).

    Maximum tidal range is 0.38 meters to 0.45 meters - Currents are reported to set north-west in channel St Marc and east in Channel Gonave.

    PILOTAGE: Pilot boards to the west of the fairway buoy. Pilot boards at anchorage buoy with port ship agent representative, quarantine team and the national police. Pilot requests to disembark just after vessel clears berth. Vessel uses two tugs with ship's lines - Pilotage charges are calculated in relation to vessel draft.

    PROVISIONS: There is a supermarket near the port.

    WATER: Fresh water is available at quay. Drinking water is available at the wharf, but vessel must provide her own connections. Rate of loading is 10 tonnes per hour.

    FACILITIES: Largest vessel: 23,058 dwt - Maximum draft alongside: 35 meters.

    Longest vessel: 204 meters.

    (Rail-mounted container crane of 30 tonnes capacity on the apron equipped to handle 20, 40 and 45 ft containers). Dedicated container terminal is 425 meters in length with 8.5 meters depth.

    Ro-ro: Two special ro-ro berths of 14 and 29 meters breadth respectively and 9.0 meters depth.
