    WORKING HOURS: Mon-Fri: 07.00-16.00. - Closed: New Year's Day, Good Friday, Labor Day, Christmas Day and Republic Day. (Overtime can be worked by special arrangement with some operators in eight hour block periods around the clock and throughout the year.)

    APPROACH: Via Demerara River. Main approach is 10 km long, 70 metres wide and 5 meters deep - Landmarks: Chateau Margot chimney; Georgetown lighthouse beacon.

    HAZARDS: None notified.

    TRANSPORTATION: All berths linked by road. Inland and onward transportation is by truck or by river and coastal vessels.

    Cheddi Jagan International (Timehri) Airport is 47 km from the sea port.

    IMPORTS AND EXPORTS: Imports: Petroleum, foodstuffs, general hardware, vehicles, heavy duty machinery - Exports: Sugar, rice, bauxite, timber, rum, marine products.

    WEATHER: NE tropical winds - Tides: MHWS is 2.9 meters; MLWS: 0.34 meters; MHWN: 2.23 meters; MLWN: 1.04 meters.

    ANCHORAGE: Five anchorage points with water depths of 58 meters, 6.4 meters, 6.7 meters, 61 meters and 5.5 meters.

    PILOTAGE: Pilot boards at Demerara Light House (outer Georgetown) Pilot Station.

    TOWAGE: Several companies available. They can be contacted by the various berth operators.
