    WORKING HOURS: Mon-Fri: 07.00-23.00 - Sat and Sun: 07.00-23.00 (overtime).

    Closed: Christmas Day, Good Friday, Labor Day (1st May).

    APPROACH: St George's Harbour Entrance, 9 meters deep and 260 meters long.

    Landmark: 18th century fort on St George's Point.

    HAZARDS: Annas shoal off entrance - Shallow water on both sides of inner harbour.

    TRANSPORTATION: Hinterland transportation is mainly by road and cabotage.

    Point Salines International Airport is 4.5 miles from the port.

    IMPORTS AND EXPORTS: Imports: Construction material, food and petroleum products - Exports: Agricultural produce, agro products, light manufactures.

    WEATHER: Easterly and south-easterly winds - Tidal range is 0.5 meter.

    ANCHORAGE: Anchorage points bearing 125° from Fort George Pt. 0.6 miles in 12.5 meters of water.

    PILOTAGE: Pilot boards half a mile NW of outermost red buoy. For entering, pilot must be notified at least 24 hours in advance. For departure, at least three hours' notice is required. Pilotage charges are calculated on a grt basis.

    TRAFFIC: Vessel calls in 1998: Cruise: 387 - Cargoships: 1,386.

    Cargo handled per year: 368,013 tonnes.

    Cargo handled per day: 1,000 to 1,999 tonnes.

    STORAGE: Open storage: 5.2 hectares - Covered storage: Transit shed with 1,858 square meters capacity - Queen's Warehouse: 929 square meters capacity.

    One wheat excavator - 40 tonnes per hour (private).

    Air draft: No restrictions - Refrigeration capacity: 20 reefer plugs.

    BUNKERS: Supplied by road tanker.

    PROVISIONS: Available through ship agents.

    WATER: Fresh water is available at quay - Approximately 15 tonnes per hour. Arranged through ship agents - Cost: US$2 per tonne.

    FACILITIES: Maximum draft alongside: 8.5 meters

    Tankers: Two berths. Tankers moor at the Grand Mal and Queen's Park terminals by anchoring and securing their sterns to mooring buoys. Vessels lie secured heading seaward.

    Grand Mal berth has 8 meters depth - Queen's Park berth has 6 meters depth.

    LPG carriers: One berth at Grand Mal with 5 meters depth.

    NEW FACILITIES: Yacht marina on south-east coast.

    MEDICAL AID: The General Hospital is half a mile from the port.

    ENVIRONMENT: Limited oil spill response capability. Prohibited anchorages. (Please consult the port for full details on regulations.)
