    Working Hours: 24 hours a day.

    HAZARDS: Non-open harbour.

    TRANSPORTATION: Inland transportation is mainly by road.

    Pele Caraibes Airport is 60 km from the sea port.

    IMPORTS AND EXPORTS (1998): Imports: General cargo and containerised cargo (about 50,000 tonnes) - Exports: General cargo and containerised cargo (about 22,000 tonnes).

    PILOTAGE: Compulsory. Pilot is available day and night. ETA and ETD of vessel must be notified to agent 72, 48 and 24 hours in advance. Harbour master's office, then pilot, should be contacted by VHF one hour before arrival. Pilotage is charged according to size of vessel (volume in cubic meters).

    TRAFFIC: Vessel calls in 1998:

    Container, ro-ro, bulk and breakbulk: 131 - Inter-island ferries: 773

    STORAGE: Open storage: Two hectares of paved storage.

    FACILITIES: Berthing: One 300 meter quay, extended to the north by a 40 meter length dyke, can accommodate cargoships and cruise ships with maximum authorised draft of 9 meters - Passenger wharf for inter-island ferries - Sheltered area for coastal traffic.
