    APPROACH: The port is approach via breakwater. Movements during darkness are restricted depending on weather conditions.

    HAZARDS: None, except local anchorage.

    TRANSPORTATION: Inland transportation is by truck.

    Las Americas International Airport is about 40 km from the port.

    IMPORTS AND EXPORTS: Imports: Containers, steel products, bagged cargoes, petroleum products, forest products, coal, LPG, cement, clinker, wheat, soybeans. Exports: Sugar, fertiliser.

    WEATHER: No tides.

    ANCHORAGE: Vessels anchor off the nearby port of Santo Domingo.

    PILOTAGE: Pilot boards by small boat about one mile from the breakwater.

    TOWAGE: Two tugs of 1,200 and 850 hp available.

    STORAGE: Open storage: Available - Covered storage: Covered storage for up to 150,000 tonnes of sugar. Two sheds totalling 4,200 square meters at Berth No 2 (west) and 3,800 square meters CFS at Berth No 5 (west).

    BUNKERS: Fuel and diesel oil available by tank truck.

    WATER: Fresh water delivered by tank truck as no pipeline available.
