    APPROACH: Port is in Samana Bay. Entrance channel is marked with eight buoys.

    TRANSPORTATION: Inland transportation is by truck.

    Las Americas International (Santo Domingo) Airport and La Union International (Puerto Plata) Airport are both four to five hours by car from the port.

    IMPORTS AND EXPORTS: Imports: Cement - Exports: Fresh produce.

    WEATHER: Winds: Hurricanes during the normal season

    ANCHORAGE: Deepwater anchorage is available at several places in Samana Bay. Local pilot should be consulted by anchoring in the bay.

    PILOTAGE: Pilot boards at Punta Balandra. Charges by grt.

    TOWAGE: None available locally. Must be ordered from Santo Domingo or Puerto Plata.
