    APPROACH: Channel from mouth of Magdalena River to port.

    Landmark: Bocas de Cenizas breakwaters.

    TRANSPORTATION: Inland transportation is available.

    Ernesto Cortizzos International Airport is 15 minutes from the sea port.

    IMPORTS AND EXPORTS: Imports: Bulk grain, glass, fertilizers, steel, tuna, machinery, oversized loads, cars, containers.

    Exports: Wood, coffee, processed tuna, steel products, textiles, pharmaceutical products.

    WEATHER: NE winds. No history of hurricanes, tornadoes or any devastating weather incident - No tides.

    ANCHORAGE: At several points along the river.

    PILOTAGE: Compulsory for all vessels. Pilot boards 0.75 mile from river entrance.

    TOWAGE: Compulsory for all vessels. Minimum of two 2,400 hp tugs available from Pilots-Aquamar - Tel: +57 53 55 19 99 - Tel/Fax: +57 53 73 00 90.

    TRAFFIC: Average vessel calls per year: 946 (1998)

    Cargo handled in 1998: 1,535,756 tonnes.

    Cargo handled per day: n/a.

    EQUIPMENT: Cranes and fork-lift trucks available.

    STORAGE: Open storage: 280,000 square meters.

    Covered storage: 36,000 square meters - Coal cargo: 5 hectares.

    Air draft: No restrictions - Refrigeration capacity: 28 reefer units plus power packs.

    BUNKERS: Available.

    PROVISIONS: Available in the city.

    WATER: Available alongside the vessel.

    FACILITIES: One continuous linear berth of 1,058 meters length can accommodate approximately seven vessels - Largest vessel: 32,000 dwt.

    Maximum draft alongside: 36 ft. - Longest vessel: 650 ft LOA.

    Cruise: None - Breakbulk: Cementos del Caribe, Monomeros and Spedni quays. Container: SPRB controlled terminal - Ro-ro: SPRB - Tankers: Colterminales and Carbide Shell quays.

    Number of terminals: Eight - Number of berths: About 16

    NEW FACILITIES: None notified.

    PRIVATE WHARFS: Various private facilities within the port area.

    MEDICAL AID: Available in the city. Ambulance and paramedics available in port.

    ENVIRONMENT: Regulations available upon request.
