2005

2005,
July 7: The Holland Group has reportedly been selected to design, develop and
operate Puerto Rico’s port of Mayaguez.
According
to a report in Caribbean Business newspaper this week, four corporations
submitted bids for the project, including American Ports, Intergroup, Holland
Group (known as Mainport P.R.), and Luis Manuel Carrillo & Assoc.
The Port of Mayagüez is located on 16 acres on
Puerto Rico’s western coast. The port has a 1,289-foot berth with a depth of 18
feet to 29 feet near the pier, and of approximately 30 to 35 feet at the port's
entrance channel.
The redevelopment of the Port of Mayaguez is part
of a municipal and regional master plan to renovate and attract more tourist and
cargo business to Puerto Rico's western region, the newspaper reported.
