Montego Bay provides perfect setting for AGM in October

2010 July 6: The Caribbean Shipping Association is celebrating a significant anniversary in 2010 and plans are in place for making the upcoming 40th Annual General Meeting, Conference and Exhibition a very special occasion.

The 40th Annual General Meeting will be held in Jamaica, in the resort city of Montego Bay, October 11, 12 and 13 at the Rose Hall Resort and Spa (a Hilton resort). However, the activities begin on the weekend, starting with the CSA golf tournament on Saturday October 9th and the opening of the CSA’s business exposition, “Shipping Insight 2011” in the evening of Sunday, October 10

Standing Committees of the CSA, including the Training Trust, the Port Awards Committee, the Silver Club and the General Council will meet during the day on Sunday, October 10. Other collateral meetings include the Cruise Committee and the National Associations Workshop.

The official opening of the conference will take place on Monday October 11 at the conference hotel, with a ceremony scheduled to begin at 0900 hrs. This will be followed by three days of plenaries; group meetings; technical presentations and panel discussions.

The theme of the conference is "RIMS Now: Dawn of a New Beginning".

CSA members will also deal with matters relating to the business of the Association and in this regard, will be electing officers to lead the CSA for the 2010 – 2011 year. The incumbent President, Mr. Carlos Urriola, is completing his first year and is eligible for re-election.

Events to expose and share Jamaica’s rich cultural heritage as well as a special programme for spouses accompanying delegates are being finalized. Details of these events will be posted on this website as soon as they are completed.

The Conference ends with the 40th Anniversary Gala Banquet on Wednesday, October 13 when the winning regional terminals in the annual CSA Caribbean Ports Awards will be announced.

This is the sixth CSA Annual General Meeting to be held in Jamaica. The last was in October 2003, in Montego Bay. As on all previous occasions, the Shipping Association of Jamaica will be hosting this CSA event.
