    CSA presents two training events in Suriname

    2009, September 15: The Caribbean Shipping Association (CSA) will be presenting two training seminars in October in Paramaribo, Suriname. “Agency Management and Strategic Positioning” and “Benefiting from cruise tourism” will be held at the Torarica Group of Hotels on October 15 and 16.

     

    These courses are presented in the context of the CSA’s mission statement, which states in part: “To promote and foster the highest quality service to the maritime industry through training development…”

     

    The two courses will be presented in the days immediately following the CSA’s 39th Annual General Meeting, Conference and Exhibition, which will be held at the same venue (i.e. Torarica)

     

    Agency Management and Strategic Positioning

     Presenters:  Fritz Pinnock and Joe Cervenak 

     

    The Agency Management and Strategic Positioning course is designed to reposition the traditional ship agent and Non-Vessel Operating Common Carriers (NVOCC) within the new global logistics chain. The seminar will provide participants with the necessary agency management tools that are critical for success.

     

    This course seeks to reposition the traditional ship agent and NVOCC operators within the new global logistic chain as a value added solution partner. The objective of this two-day course (12 hours in duration) is to sharpen the skills of ship/NVOCC agents. The programme of work includes:

    • The Ship/NVOCC Agent and e-Commerce

    • The two (2) fundamental forces driving the global shipping industry – Scale and technology

    • How Agents can meet the challenges of the changing Shipping Environment

    • Critical Success Factors

    • Commercial relationships and issues relating to Ports

    • Major legislation changes facing the Global Shipping Industry

    Benefiting from cruise tourism

     Presenters: Jan Sierhuis and Julieanne Burrowes

     

    The objective of this CSA training event is to improve the basic knowledge and understanding of all persons working in cruise destinations in the Caribbean and Latin American.

    The course work will give participants a understanding and appreciation of the workings of the cruise industry in general and the specifics of the Caribbean and Latin American cruise market.

     

    The course will address:

    • Introduction to the Cruise Industry

    • Benefiting from Cruise Tourism: Caribbean & South American Overview

    • Customer Service Excellence

    • Creating the Shoreside Experience

    Both training events will include a module on Customer Service Excellence.

     

    Course fee is US$150 per person. Suriname nationals will not be charged.

    Registration will take place at the CSA Conference Secretariat during the 39th Annual General Meeting, Conference and Exhibition.
