  • New maritime training qualifications

    New maritime training qualifications

    available at Puerto Rican university

    2009, July 29: The Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico has announced two training qualifications in maritime logistics, a Professional Certificate Program in Transportation and Maritime Logistics and a Bachelor of Business Administration, major in International Business and Logistics.

     

    CERTIFICATE PROGRAMME

    The Professional Certificate programme will produce technicians with in-depth knowledge of transportation and maritime logistics, by teaching technical skills and ethical standards of the various areas of maritime law, maritime logistics and international transportation management. It will teach the elements of supply and demand chain management; import and export chain operation, as well as security.

     

    Participants will do research projects which will provide them the opportunity to address and overcome the challenges and difficulties associated with maritime law, logistics, international transportation management, maritime trade issues and security. (... more)

     

    DEGREE PROGRAMME

    The International Business and Logistics degree programme will qualify students to perform effectively in the global economy. The International Business programme will provide students with the knowledge needed to recognize the importance of human resources within the context of global business and a global economy. It will stimulate participants to develop and monitor, plan, organize and lead the global business environment.

    This aspect of the degree programme emphasizes the importance of diverse abilities that will allow students to participate effectively in organizations within global markets. (... more)

     

    The Logistics component will teach logistic concepts, techniques and principles, as well as supply chain management. It will provide students with the knowledge to understand the relationship of business processes, national and international, within and between organizations. It will emphasize the various approaches associated with logistics to solve managerial and business problems while providing the knowledge to understand the impact of current and future logistics and management trends.

     

    CSA members are especially invited to avail themselves and their organization of these training opportunities. In fact, the announcement of these programmes comes following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the university and the Caribbean Shipping Association.
