CSA names its top ports
CSA names its top ports...

2008, October 16, POS, Trinidad and Tobago:
Guadeloupe and Kingston Container Terminal emerged top ports in the CSA's annual
Caribbean Ports Awards.
The
winners were announced on October 15 at the Association's annual banquet held in
Port of Spain at the end of the 38th Annual General Meeting, Conference and
Exhibition. Over 250 delegates registered for the event, held at the Hyatt
Regency Trinidad hotel, October 13, 14 and 15.
FIRST TIME FOR GUADELOUPE ...
Guadeloupe was winner of the Multi-purpose

the first time that Guadeloupe has taken the top prize in the annual
competition.
A
long standing member of the Caribbean Shipping Association, Guadeloupe has
sustained steady development in its port and maritime sector over the years.
SECOND TIME FOR KINGSTON
...
On
the other hand, this was the second time that for the Kingston Container
Terminal.
When the results were tallied in 2008 in Port of
Spain, Kingston was adjudged, for the second time in five years, the top
container terminal in the competition. Kingston Container Terminal
previously won the Best Container Terminal in 2003. PHOTO

The CSA's annual port of the year competition was
established to encourage and promote port development and efficient port
operations. It recognizes those ports that have sustained a high level of
efficiency while maintaining effective programmes for development of human
resources and systems.
The competition looks at a port's overall
efficiency and dependability and on measures implemented to achieve higher
levels of productivity, growth and development.
