October 1:The Caribbean Shipping Association has a new
General Manager in Clive Forbes.
Mr.
Forbes, a Jamaican national, took up office in the CSA’s Kingston Secretariat on
September 22. He replaces Stephen Bell, who served in that position for five
years.
Clive Forbes came to the Senior Management ranks
from the field of Electrical Engineering which he studied at the University of
the West Indies at St. Augustine. His background includes experience in channel
sales, marketing and operations within the telecommunications and beverage
industries. The CSA expects to benefit from his strong management skills and
experience gathered at three of Jamaica’s and the Caribbean’s largest
corporations, as it implements development projects and strengthens its
strategic alliances.
Mr. Forbes will be a part of the CSA planning
process and will be implementing a number of recent initiatives announced by the
CSA with respect to port security and in organizational development. He will be
consolidating formal relationship the CSA has established with Caricom and the
Association of Caribbean States. Immediately, he will be engaged in planning
the 2009 Caribbean Shipping Executives Conference.
Clive Forbes will experience his first CSA
plenary and meet shipping industry personnel from more than 20 countries when
the CSA’s 38th Annual General Meeting, Conference and Exhibition convenes in
Port of Spain on October 13, 2008.
