    Caribbean Shipping Executives Conference

The annual Caribbean Shipping Executives Conference will be held over three days in May 2008 in St. Maarten, considered one of the fastest growing cruise destinations in the Caribbean.  Delegates will discuss and receive presentations on cargo issues.  The cruise seminar, held as part of this event, has been expanded.

On May 19, at the Sonesta Maho Beach Resort, President of the Caribbean Shipping Association (CSA), Fernando Rivera will call to order the seventh sitting of this annual CSA conference which has grown and expanded in size and content since the first was held in Georgetown, Guyana with 110 participants, May 21 and 22, 2002.

The St. Maarten Harbor Group of Companies will be hosting the CSA, and has been working closely with the CSA Secretariat in planning the logistics of the event.

The Caribbean Shipping Executives Conference (C.S.E.C.) is now run over three days.  As usual, the first two days deal with a wealth of topics relative to cargo shipping and management. A third day was added to allow the CSA a platform to assist the development of one very vital aspect of regional shipping, the cruise industry

Organized by the CSA Secretariat in collaboration with the CSA’s Cruise Committee, this third day of presentations and deliberation has added an important dimension to the Caribbean Shipping Executives Conference and has created a formal situation operatives in the cruise industry can receive and discuss issues of development and sustainability.  The Chair of the CSA’s Cruise Committee, Jan Sierhuis said the May 21 CSEC cruise seminar “ … will focus on future trends and the Caribbean agenda for cooperation in ensuring that our product remains competitive.”

It will be followed by a 2-day cruise training workshop, focusing on matters relevant to Caribbean cruise destinations.

The seminar and training workshop are open to members and non-members of the CSA.
