The Puerto Rico Shipping Association has a new President in Hernán Ayala

Puerto Rico Shipping Association has a new President in Hernán Ayala Rubio.
He was elected on October 4, 2007 at the
Association’s Annual General Meeting in Puerto Rico.
The new Board of Directors elected on October 4th
is as follow: Hernán F. Ayala Rubio, Vice President of Operations for Luis A.
Ayala Colón Scrs., Inc.; José F. Nazario, Finance Director of Crowley Maritime,
Vice President; Joseph Vázquez, General Manager of APL Puerto Rico, Treasurer;
Herbert Ríos, Port Director - PR of Trailer Bridge, Inc., Secretary; José O.
Busto, President of Continental Shipping, Past President and Fernando L. Rivera,
Vice President of Harbor Bunkering Corporation, Executive Director.
Inspired by the formation of the Caribbean
Shipping Association, the PRSA was founded in 1970 by Puerto Rico's shipping
companies to address, principally, trade union contracts negotiations.
Since then it has evolved into the leading group attending all matters affecting
the country's shipping industry.
According to the new President: “While our
mission is to study and solve all the common problems affecting our members, our
Board will also work towards increasing the participation of our members within
our own organization and in the different associations in which we are members.
It is our role as representatives of one of the most important industries for
Puerto Rico to work together with the Puerto Rico Manufacturers Association, the
Chamber of Commerce, Caribbean Shipping Association and the Coalition for Puerto
Rico to improve the economic and social conditions of our precious island.”
