2006, November 2: Antilles Freight
Corporation, a member of the Caribbean Shipping Association, was recognized for
the quality of its services when it won the U.S. Department of Commerce’s
Minority Exporter of the Year Award.
The
Award was made at the 24th Annual Minority Enterprise Development Week (MEDWeek)
Awards Gala, held last month (October 21) in Miami, Florida.
Antilles Freight was also the recipient of the
Regional Award for Outstanding Performance, winning from a field of more than 30
minority firms from Alabama, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina,
Georgia and Florida.

Executive Vice President of Antilles Freight,
Joseph Rhoden, received the Award on behalf of his company. Commenting on those
aspects of his company’s performance which he felt was responsible for its
regional success, he referred to “meticulous operations” which he said ensured
that “personalized care and service” were offered at both the receiving
terminals in the U.S. and off-dock facilities in foreign destinations.
“This attention to every detail helps to
eliminate pilferage, cargo damage and other such potential headaches to our
customers,” Mr. Rhoden said.
Mr. Rhoden, well known in the corridors of the CSA,
attended the recent 36th Annual General Meeting, Conference and Exhibition in
Panama City.
