2006

2006,
June 11: Central Romana Corporation, according to a Domincan Republic news
organization “Dominican Today”, received the international Port
Facilities Security and Protection certificate, after complying with the
organization’s requirement.
In handing over the certification documents to
that firm’s Port director, Luis Emilio Rodriguez, the director of the Dominican
Port Authority (Apordom), Jose Sanz, spoke positively about the conditions under
which Central Romana operated.
Sanz said that Central Romana met all the demands
for harbor security and protection, as stipulated by the international
organization.
The port authority official said that it was the
government’s responsibility to guarantee the protection and security for all
national and international carriers, freight and cruise, that use Dominican
Republic’s ports.
Sanz said that because of the excellent
conditions under which Dominican ports operate, many prestigious international
shippers were interested in placing the country’s ports on their itineraries.
The Dominican Republic ports at Haina and Caucedo
are among other major Dominican maritime facilities that have already received
the certification.
