2006, Feb. 13: The Curaçao Towage Company, a
subsidiary of the Curaçao Ports Authority has received two new tugboats named 'Ola'
and 'Manta'. The two new tugs arrived on December 6, 2005 at St.
Annabay after a 21-day sea journey.
The new tugboats were designed and built by Damen
Shipyards Gorinchem in Holland.
The 'Ola' is a Damen ASD Tug 2810
tugboat model, with 4930 BHP and 58.7 ton Bollard Pull. This tugboat will be
assigned to harbour towage jobs in the Caribbean.
The 'Manta' is a Damen Stan Tug
2909 tugboat model, with 4520 BHP and 65.2 ton Bollard Pull. This tugboat will
be assigned to towage jobs in and outside the ports of Curaçao. The 'Manta' is
an ocean-going tugboat that can be used for tugging ships over long distances.
