2007,
January 15: The Carnival Freedom will make its inaugural cruise on
Monday March 5, according to Carnival Cruise Lines. The newest ‘fun ship’ with a
capacity of 2,974 passengers will, in addition to its Grand Mediterranean and
Greek Isles itinerary, will do a 4-day, one 6-day, three 7-day and two 8-day
Caribbean circuits.
The 4-day Western Caribbean tour out of Miami
will take in Key West, Florida; Cozumel, Mexico and back to Miami.
A 6-day cruise out of Fort Lauderdale (Port
Everglades) will have the ship visiting Freeport, Bahamas; Grand Cayman, Cayman
Islands; Costa Maya, Mexico and back to Port Everglades.
The 7-day cruises sail out of Miami. One will
take in San Juan, St. Thomas (USVI), St. Maarten and back to Miami. Another will
include Half Moon Cay in the Bahamas, St. Thomas, San Juan and Grand Turk in the
Turks and Caicos Islands. The other will include Cozumel, Grand Cayman and Ocho
Rios (Jamaica).
The 8-day cruises will originate in Port
Everglades. One will take in San Juan, St. Thomas, Antigua, Tortola (BVI) and
Nassau. The other will take passengers south, to Costa Maya (Mexico), Limon
(Costa Rica), Colon (Panama) and back to Port Everglades.
Meanwhile
Carnival has included St. Kitts in an 8-day Southern Caribbean cruise out of
Fort Lauderdale, starting January 27 with 'Spirit' Class ship, the 'Carnival
Legend'. St. Kitts will receive six calls of the ‘Carnival Legend’
St Kitts will remain on the itinerary of the
“Carnival Legend” during the 2007/2008 cruise ship season with 11 port calls
beginning on Saturday 27th October, 2007.
The 'Carnival Legend' was built in 2002 and is
one of four ships in Carnival’s 'Spirit' Class. This ship carries 2,124
passengers and 930 crew.
