July 20: Antigua & Barbuda cruise destination is getting a new cruise ship in
port. It is confirmed that the Disney Wonder, one of the most beautiful cruise
ships afloat, sailing out of Florida will be calling at St. John’s this summer.
Observers in Antigua’s cruise
industry hail this visit as a “big one” for the country. There is anticipation
that cruise arrivals will vastly improve with additional ships berthing at St.
John’s. Antigua expects to welcome at least 700,000 cruise visitors during the
2006/7 cruise season.
The Disney Wonder’s Southern
Caribbean itinerary includes: St. Thomas, St. Lucia, Barbados, Antigua
(St. John's), St. Kitts, Castaway Cay
The ship was launched in 1999.
Flying Bahamas flag, it carries 2400 passengers and a crew of 950.
